At the annual Christmas Party, Wayne and I were honored by being made Lifetime Members of District 8. We were so surprised. We didn't know how they got it past us since I am the Chairman of the Board of Directors and all life memberships have to go through the board! We were definitely surprised and even more honored to be given the lifetime award. It means a lot to Wayne and I to know that our district thinks enough of us to do this. "Thank You District 8 from the bottoms of our hearts!!!"

We have a Spring Campout scheduled for March 28-29, 2008 at Kenny Grove. It is very hard to get reservations at Kenny Grove in Fillmore, so we felt very lucky that we could get a weekend in the spring. Anyone interested in coming needs to contact BOB BUELING now at 805-822-8207 to guarantee a campsite. This is a good, clean, family oriented fun weekend.

District 8 will hold it's Old Fashioned Barn Dance on Friday evening, April 18, 2008, prior to the 22nd Annual Amateur Fiddle and Picking Contest on Saturday, April 19, 2008. The Barn Dance admission is $5.00 per person and includes dinner. We haven't decided on a menu yet, but it's always good! There is no entry fee or admission to the contest, which is conducted under modified CSOTFA rules for fiddle and picking. Medals and Trophies awarded. We promise you a well organized and enjoyable contest. So come and join us for a fun day of listening to some great fiddle music. For more information contact JOE HUNSINGER, Contest Chairman at 805-581-9393.

District 8 meets at the Oak View Community Center in Oak View, CA on the 2nd & 4th Sundays of each month from 1:30-4:30 p.m. There is always lots of jamming on the patio, on stage performances, and dancing in the gymnasium. We always have a great snack bar and refreshments are by donation only. So, ya'll come over to Oak View some afternoon and join us for some great music.
