PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Wayne
All is well at the Fiddlers. So far, our OLD Hillbilly band has played ten events this year and fifty-five more booked. Not only are we playing more shows each year, but we are playing bigger events. As always, I'm amazed at the talent of our members and their willingness to play. Without their support, we would be unable to continue at this pace. With this success we enjoy a very healthy financial position that we are able to share with our membership.
On May 18, 2001, after finally convincing the then President of District 8 Jan Bowman to allow me to play with the group at an outside event, I was allowed to play guitar (no stinky banjo) at California Lutheran. I have a picture of the musicians who played that event which I will cherish forever. This was the first time of many that I had the opportunity to play with Ches Willis and Rae Huffman. Also playing was a guy that I met for the first time, Paul Hendel. We all know what a gentleman and great person Ches Willis and so was Paul Hendel. We miss those guys.
